Welcome to our DIY COOKIE blog.
Just like any true artist, we first need to make sure we prep our work area properly.
Roll up those sleeves, wash our hands and make sure you have a nice clean working surface to create your master pieces on.
Once clean, unbox and lay everything out on your clean work space.
Be careful! The cookies are hiding safely underneath the 6 insert, right at the very bottom of the box. OK, we are ready to roll...
STEP 1: THE FONDANT (THE CANVAS)
Lightly dust your work surface and rolling pin with powdered sugar or cornstarch.
The powdered sugar or cornstarch will help prevent the fondant from sticking to your work surface when you're rolling it out.
Knead the Fondant. Now it's time to take your fondant and open the packet.
Before we roll it, we need to take some time to knead the fondant until it’s nice and soft.
Time to ROLL: 1CM thick. Use the clear acrylic rolling pin to flatten out the fondant.
TIP: Never flip it over after you start to roll. Give it a wiggle from side to side to ensure it doesn't stick and spin it around to check on the thickness.
Cookie cutter time. Press it firmly down on the fondant and give it a wiggle to make sure it comes free.
STEP 2: STICKING FONDANT (THE CANVAS) ONTO THE COOKIE
- Wet your finger and then use it to wet the back of the fondant shape.
(it gets very sticky!) then place the fondant shape on top of the cookie. Then using your palm, gently press them together.
- Let dry for 15-20 minutes in room temperature. Once it feels hard to touch, it's ready.
STEP 3: UNLEASH THE CREATIVE COOKIE ARTIST
- Treat the fondant as your canvas.
You can draw or write anything on them with the edible markers.
You can stick sprinkles on the cookies by dabbing some of the cookie icing onto the fondant.
